Well, it was only a matter of time...we got our official summer reading instructions and Miss Priss has some work to do. Lucky for her there's only one required book...
The Magician's Nephew by C.S. Lewis. After that she can read ten books of whatever she wants as long as it's on grade level. So, we went over to Books A Million and bought it. And this...
A totally COOL new Bible. She asked if she could get a study Bible because her teacher told her it would be nice to have one and read it over the Summer. So we found this one...easy for her to read, age appropriate for a ten year old going on sixteen, and even cooler...it has commentaries and extra stuff for her to read that helps her relate what she's reading to her life. We actually had a conversation about why God wanted Adam and Eve to be married...now come on...that's pretty cool right?
Since I've got her taken care of for at least a week or two, I grabbed some books for myself.
So far I've read all but The Shipping News. And all I can say is the Kite Runner will make you cry a lot and think a whole bunch about this crazy ass world we live in...Wedding Ring will make you cry just a smidgen and be happy that you read it, and What Matters Most will make you want to hunt Luanne Rice down like a dog and smack her with it. (It's good, typical Luanne Rice, but dangit it's so sad!)
I'm trying to get a jump on my classwork by reading ahead in my Middle Grades ed books, but hope to get started on The Shipping News any day. Oh, and once I get off of here I'm going to start on my second scrapbook page of the night...
I mowed the lawn today too...
just needed to have a little validation. Thanks. ;)
Just a reminder....the new Stephanie Plum should be out this month.....

Jamie - did you like the Kite Runner? (have you returned it?) After you are done also read, "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by the same author. It follows the life of a few women in Afganistan. If you werent thankful for what you have - you will be after reading this.
